Faithful To Me

Hebrews 12:2
looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
For many years I had felt that to have a relationship with God meant to live a perfect and holy life and every slip up or mistake I made caused me to slip away and I would have to build up my standings once again. Anyone else feel that way? Like you are climbing a mountain to reach the presence of God only to slip down the mountain and then you would have to start all over or if you're lucky only half the way up? It is an exhausting way to reach the presence of God and one that is not possible to do. I was getting burned out trying to reach God. At the heart of what I was doing was good, but the way I was trying to reach God was all wrong. You see in Hebrews 12:2 it says that Jesus is the founder and perfected of our faith. Well what does that mean? It means he is the one who starts my faith and the one who makes it perfect before God.
Jude 1:24
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy.
Lets look at the word "presence" which in the original Greek means to stand face to face in front of. Jesus is presenting us blameless before his Father. We are looking at God face to face. That is how clean and pure Jesus makes us, but the best part of this is he is willing to present us to God. There is no need for us to try and make ourselves holy, perfect, or pure before God, because Jesus did all of this for us. He is the beginning and the end of our faith. Just to be clear with this, I am not saying we are not to be holy, faithful or pure in our daily living, but what I am saying is we are not to make holiness or perfection something we do without Jesus. If you try you will fail and burn yourself out trying to please God. What God wants from us is to rest all that we believe and have faith that Jesus is our all in all. He has all the faith and righteousness we need to stand face to face with God. With Jesus by our side we have all the faith we need, all the righteousness we need, and all the confidence we need to stand before God blameless and holy. Finding the presence of God is no longer a climb up a mountain to reach the top, but now it is more like having a conversation with a close friend who knows you and doesn't judge you for the decisions you make. A friend who walks with you during the worst times in your life, and gives you comfort along the way. Jesus is that friend and he is the bridge that leads us to the Father. Our song Faithful To Me is about how Jesus is faithful even when we are not.
The song starts out small with the chorus line and then the band comes in on the verse. I wanted to keep the song feeling as though the person telling the story was saying God is faithful, but was still working it all out in their head. As the song progresses you can hear the person is becoming stronger in their faith. This progresses until the guitar solo hits and the song drops to just one guitar. This is a pivotal moment in the song and for the person the song is about. As the guitar solo builds and builds the band returns and there is this rush of energy. This is a symbol of the confidence the person has once they realize strength in their faith. Then the electric guitar solo hits representing a boldness in their faith until the vocals come back in and they are singing faithful, faithful, you're faithful to me! This builds and builds until the powerful ending of the song which leaves you with a feeling of power and boldness that can only be felt from someone standing in the knowledge that Jesus is always faithful to me. - Danny
